If you could be kidnapped by any man, who would it be?

Secretary Maggie Dunning loves her romance novels. Her favorite--Conquered by the Knight, the story of two dominant, sexy shapeshifters, Xander and Bastien. To be possessed by two powerful Masters? Heavy, happy, lust-filled sigh!

But that’s just fantasy. It could never happen in real life...right?

Little did she know that a paper cut and a few muttered words would make all her fantasies come to life, including the hunky Xander and Bastien. One minute she’s cozy in bed sleeping, the next she’s dragged into a world she’d thought only existed in her imagination, to face her most secret desires...and her worst fears.

Bastien and Xander have their own challenges to face--a crime to investigate and a dangerous threat to the Twelfth Night Brotherhood to uncover. But they won't let that stop them from seizing their fascinating new bride and introducing her to the ecstasy of complete surrender.

If you could be kidnapped by any man...

...who would it be?

Wonder why I'm asking that question? My first ebook release of 2007 has just launched, and I'm oh so thrilled! My first book of 2007 is the launch book of a new series: Passion Unbound. The Passion Unbound series is about women who are kidnapped by the heroes in their favorite erotic romance novels.

Wouldn't that be wicked-fun? I came up with the idea after reading some posts on a reader's loop. So many readers develop feelings for the characters in their fave books. They fall in love with the heroes. They see themselves in the heroines. I wondered what it might be like to make those figurative connections real--to watch someone actually live within her favorite book, to face the heroine's struggles and pain, to fall in love.

Anyway, here's the blurb for the first story, Wild Nights. Note: this book is a menage a trois romance with m/m/f and m/f/m sex scenes.

Passion Unbound

And thus it was from the beginning of time. Two knights. One bride. They whispered their story to The Chosen, a human endowed with the gift of Hearing... The Chosen wrote the story and released it into the human world.

The bait was set. The spell was cast. And then they waited...
(An excerpt from the Ierd Kimeno, the sacred text of the Twelfth Knight Brotherhood)

Now, what's your answer? If you could be kidnapped by any romance hero, could actually live your favorite romance story, which one would it be? I'd love to hear your answers! Post, post, post!

And just because I'm in the mood to give away a prize, I'm going to do a quickie contest. Friday, March 30 at twelve noon, I'll randomly choose a winner from those who respond. The prize: winner's choice of an ebook download from my backlist (excluding Wild Nights--sorry).

Good luck!

Python Place 3: Rose and Thorn by Kate Hill

Concerned that her sister might be held against her will at Python Place, Abigail enters the infamous house and finds her strict moral code endangered by irresistibly sexy Tyrus Terence.

The moment Tyrus meets Abigail, he knows the prim spinster is his soulmate. He can scarcely believe the fates would be cruel enough to bind him to a haughty woman with bad fashion sense.

Yet beneath her cool exterior lives a deeply passionate seductress, one who matches him in lust and stirs the handsome daemon's protective instincts. Tyrus will stop at nothing to keep Abigail safe from his dreaded mother, the evil spirit Eris, even if it means tapping into the darkness inside himself.

Pret Ops: WarWolf by Emma Ray Garrett

The hunt is afoot.
The War Wolf is taking a working vacation. He’s going to visit his mother in Alabama and while he’s there, he might as well look into the spike in violence along Mobile’s riverfront. The last thing he expects to find is a turf war between the human mafia and the Heteroclites, a preternatural group led by Robert Marshall.

When Jeremiah Dean gets a call from an old friend, who has some bodies of the preternatural sort in her morgue, he decides a visit to Alabama is a fine way to spend some R&R. But when he meets up with Joshua Black, the infamous War Wolf, a plan to fulfill one of his deepest fantasies comes to life. All Jeremiah has to do is convince Joshua that in order to stop the mounting violence between the human mob and the Heteroclites, they’ll need the help of the only female the Ascendant vampire can’t forget.

Karia Logan left the Incubic Class for many reasons. Now, she’s a talented ambassador for the diplomatic branch of the Corps, and she loves her job. So, when she’s ordered to go on a covert mission, she isn’t thrilled. Her newest assignment will take her back into black ops, testing both her abilities and control. To make matters worse, she’s going to be working with the two men she can’t get off her mind.

Some call the War Wolf intimidator, others a monster, but no one calls him Josh.

The Beast 5: Rock the Line by Renee George

This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But, it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” -- Winston Churchill
In the aftermath of the attack by the Brotherhood of Truth, Nathan Greer and Guillermo Perez finally settle down in their new home and Nathan’s daughter, Rebekah, is developing faster than any of them could have predicted.

After revealing a shocking truth, the magically powerful child sends Nathan, Guillermo and Tyr on a short trip to the past to retrieve the libilis stones. One stone to control the magic, one to prolong life, and the last to harness time. When the stone of time hurls Nathan twenty-five years into the future, he finds his friends and family have been tossed into chaos and his daughter has become someone to fear.

Nathan discovers that unless he can get back to his own time and correct the mistakes of the past there will be no future -- for any of them.

The exciting conclusion to The Beast series.

Dragon's Desire by Sierra Dafoe

In the dragon kingdom of Djarera, Lara Sotherlin has at last found her life-mate in the handsome rebel, Zendar. But the four clans, still furious over Zendar's rebellion, refuse to accept him as heir to the throne.

Zendar can see no other way to save Djarera from all-out warfare than to leave, even if it means losing the woman he loves. And Darrek, badly scarred and left half-blind by the battle to save Elara, believes he wants nothing more than to be left alone. Together, they disappear, leaving Rand and Elara frantic.

Now Elara and Rand must put everything on the line to find them, and in a last desperate struggle, each of them must finally acknowledge their own deepest desires. But will the result be ruin for the dragon kingdom, or the dawn of a whole new era?

Scarlet Ties: Tempted
by Anisa Damien

Noely Lamont is a Southern Belle extraordinaire and, like every Southern woman, she knows how to get her man. Soon she’s to become the Queen of the Companions and the elders have chosen the vampire Cyrus Rayven, the man who vehemently resisted her advances, as her mate. Noely plans to bring him to his knees, but she didn’t count on meeting her match in his twin brother Coye or the red-hot passion that he ignites within her.

Coye Rayven couldn’t be more intrigued by the hellion who had her sights set on his recently engaged brother. He’ll do Cyrus the service of taking care of Miss Lamont -- starting with the lusty appetite that rivals his own. To do that, he’ll tempt her, body and soul.

Another New Cover and an Interesting Article About Cover Models

An author friend posted a link to this article on another loop. It seems that Harlequin is holding open casting calls for the first time ever for cover models. Why? Because the models they're seeing from modeling agencies are too young and thin.

The informal survey I've taken at the bookstore would support this move. I'd say a hero in his mid-thirties is probably the target age they need to shoot for. And average or athletic build.

What do you think? Agree? Disagree?

And speaking of covers, here's the cover for my first Twilight's Possession book, Burning Hunger, releasing April 20th. This book is uber-hot and suspenseful. A vampire menage-slash-treasure-hunt. YUMMY!

Blurb:
Private detective Brea Maguire is on her first case, tracking down a stolen statue—the Sacred Triad—before it’s buried in the black market. Unfortunately, today—Friday the Thirteenth—isn’t her day. Being kidnapped from the mall by a pair of bizarre guys who put the Chippendales to shame, didn’t figure into her new career plans.

But Dayne and Marek have their own problems.

Dayne, forced into a blood-bond by the king with Marek, his sworn enemy, sees his chance to exact vengeance for his family’s slaughter slip away.

For Marek, the blood-bond with Dayne may be too little, too late. His enemies have learned the secret of the relic, which holds the only hope for a cure for his dying brother, the king.

The race to find the Triad is on.

Enter Brea. Marek can help her find the Triad, and use it to save his brother’s life, but only if she, too, enters the blood-bond. The burning hunger that accompanies it is a major complication none of them anticipated.

Two men, one woman—and a driving sexual hunger that none can resist, in a race against time to save one man—or destroy thousands.

Fabu New Cover!

It's been a looooonnnnng wait, but I finally have my first Kensington vampire cover. It's nothing like what I expected, but I really do like it! It's campy and fun. Sassy. I don't want to wish the summer away, but I am SO looking forward to this September when it releases.

Here's the back cover blurb:

First Love or First Bite?

Although Sophie Hahn works as a paranormal researcher, she doesn’t believe in ghosts, werewolves, or anything to do with the supernatural world. But when Sophie’s boss is convinced that her best friend Dao is slowly being killed by a female vampire, her beliefs are put to the test. Sure Dao bears more than a passing resemblance to a walking skeleton, but his new wife doesn’t look capable or hurting a fly let alone sucking the life out of someone. On the other hand, watching Dao wither away to nothing isn’t an option. So if Sophie has to go vampire hunting, she’ll do it...

That’s when Sophie meets sexy college professor and vampire Ric Vogel, who asks her to be a partner on his search for two ancient relics that have the power to end his people’s suffering forever and save Dao. Sophie finds herself falling hard for Ric. What is she thinking by lusting after a vampire? Maybe he isn’t a vampire. After all, she doesn’t believe they exist. All she knows is that Ric’s blond, seductive looks are very real and his love bites feel too good to resist. But is Sophie prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for the vamp of her dreams?

Winter is Officially OVER!

I confess, I HATE winter.

Although I adore Christmas, and don't mind a little snow in late December, if I had it my way, we'd be back in the mid 60's after Jan. 1st. I spend the better part of four months of the year huddled under blankets, my laptop warming my lap, trying to keep warm. As is my luck, I live with a bunch of polar bears who like to live in a house colder than a meat locker.

Here in Michigan, the official first day of spring doesn't guarantee pleasant weather. For the next six weeks or so, we’ll get a mixed bag of rain, snow and sleet. One day it might be in the mid 30's, the next the mid 60's. But those occasional glimpses of fair weather make it slightly more tolerable.

Spring is here! Halleluiah!

The wonderful feeling of the sun warming my face. And the sweet scent of flowers and grass! And the sound of twittering birds.

I am so ready for spring.

Tuesday Blahs

I must be PMS-ing, because I'm in the mood to go hide in a cave today. I can't think of anything to blog about. I'm frustrated because the stupid needle on the bathroom scale is stuck on a number I don't like. And I'm struggling to finish the proposal I promised my agent.

On a good note, however, I have a book to recommend! I stumbled upon it last weekend when I was at work. Great book! Fast paced, sensual, funny, romantic...gush, gush, gush.

Are you anxious to hear what it is? It's the February Nocturne release (Silhouette), Nevermore by Maureen Child.

Blurb

Reborn moments after Queen Isabella of Spain ordered her lover's death, Santos accepted eternal life in exchange for protecting humanity. For centuries, he's kept himself secluded in a hillside mansion. But all that changes one night when he takes in a woman who claims to have seen him in a vision.

A dire prediction has convinced Erin Brady she will be murdered on her thirtieth birthday--and that Santos is the only man who can help her. Unwittingly drawn to the beauty who can read his thoughts and heart like no one ever has, Santos realizes she is his Destined Mate. And with the threat of her imminent extinction ticking like a time bomb, Santos suddenly has something worth dying…and worth living for.

Weight Loss and a Rant

Today's post has nothing to do with writing. I wanted to post about something more personal.

If you're a Diva, you may have seen my little weight loss ticker in my sig line. Since the birth of my fifth child almost three years ago, I have been struggling to lose the weight I gained during pregnancy. It has been a long, hard road. In nearly three years, I have come down five dress sizes. These last ten pounds have been particularly difficult to shake. I have been following a low-cal diet and moderate daily exercise plan since January with fairly good results. I've hit a couple plateaus, and have had my frustrations, but I'm finally starting to feel like I look like me again (for those who've been thin all her life then spent some time heavier, you might know to what I mean by that).

The secret for me is using a journal to record both my exercise and daily intake of calories. To simplify things, I eat prepackaged (but AFFORDABLE) foods (Lean Pockets, South Beach Diet bars, Michelina's Lean Gourmet dinners). I eat five to six times a day, to keep from getting shaky and cranky, with each "meal" being roughly 150-250 calories each. And my brand of exercise is 35 minutes of jogging every weekday morning (I take weekends off). Those thirty-five minutes are agony, but the walking wasn't cutting it anymore. I had to increase the intensity.

For those looking for an easy-to-use journal, you could improvise like I do, or you could try something like this one Keyoe, recommended by a fellow Ellora's Cave author who has lost over a hundred pounds with it. There is a free trial version available for download. I gave it a try, and found it extremely easy to use.

Now, for the rant. Since I'm currently at a weight I haven't seen in many years, I've had to do some clothes shopping. It has taken me forever to find a pair of black pants that fit properly. Seriously. I've tried on hundreds of pairs.

Why, oh why, don't women's clothes come in waist sizes, like men's? There is such a huge difference in fit between brands (or even within brands--with different styles and fits). It makes it so hard to find a pair of pants that fit.

Do you have any diet tips, suggestions for making exercise tolerable, or rants about fashion/clothing/trends? Post away!

And the second cover is for my upcoming print release, Master of Secret Desires. This is a print anthology containing my first dragon book, Dragons and Dungeons.

Blurb:

"Play it safe." Antiques buyer Kaya Cordova needs the ancient Philippino copperplate she's just lost at a private auction, but she has six-foot-something of sexy, mysterious male standing in her way. Spurred on by her boss and a promise of a fat bonus check, she decides to try to talk him into selling it to her. Unfortunately, she has no idea what she's in for.

Tall, blond, built like a god and sinfully rich, Jestin Draig looks all-American, but appearances can be deceiving. He has a dark secret that will force Kaya to quit bowing to the master of fear and accept him as her new Master. He'll give her everything she desires, but at a great price…to both of them.

Popular Editor Leaves Publishing

Anna Louise Genoese, editor with TOR and owner of a popular blog on LiveJournal, announced yesterday that she is leaving publishing. From her blog,

"My dear darlings,

I have no idea how to say this, so I am just going to come right out and tell you.

I. I am leaving Tor. My last day is the 20th."

You can read the rest of her announcement, including her plans for the future on her BLOG.

While I'm not shocked she's changing jobs, her decision to leave publishing entirely does surprise me. I'm sure I'm not alone. Her blog was extremely popular, not to mention informative.

I wish her the very best with her new career. It sounds fascinating.

Are you a book addict?

Every weekend, at the bookstore, I hear the same thing over and over, "I have a million books at home I haven't read yet, but I have to buy more."

Yeah. I know what they mean.

I am proud to admit that I am a book addict. The first thing I do when I get into work (after performing such mundane tasks as turning on the lights and opening the cash register, of course) is scope out the new goodies. Throughout my eight-hour shift, I gather books on the counter--my "stack". And in the evening, I'm absolutely elated as I carry my new acquisitions home.

What is it about bookstores? OMG, I cannot walk into one without spending money. Do they pump in some kind of drug--masked by that "book smell" we all love? Do they play subliminal messages over the sound system? (Buy, buy, BUYYYYY!!!!)

This week I resisted (almost), I brought home Sarah McCarty's Conception (vampires! I LOVE vampires.). Only one book. But that's only because the books I wanted were already sold out :)

Any other book addicts out there? What's your poison?

Fed up with her non-existent love life, Faith decides to once again consult the cards. Will she find the right man to submit to? When the Tarot leaves her uneasy she attempts a simple spell. The spell goes awry opening the veil between her and the Otherworld where she unwittingly calls for her true love. A man, who now claims to be Fae and her mate, insists he has every right to take her. Despite being kidnapped she is inexplicably drawn to the man who demands her complete and total submission.

When Garon hears his mate call he rushes to her side determined to be "the one" who claims her. A human mate. So rare among his kind. When she resists he exercises his Fae rights and takes her home. His plan is to seduce her into submission before introducing her to his shape-shifting companion, Kian. Will she accept the unbreakable bond between them or force him to release her to an even darker fate?

Book Covers

Let's talk about the book covers we like. (No, I'm not going to just rave about my own covers. I do enough of that anyway *g*)

Let's take a look at this one:
(The Dowry Bride, Kensington)

The photograph is gorgeous. Beautiful. However, a minor complaint--I think the title and author's name could be larger. Other opinions?

I really like this one too:
(The Great Scott, Brava)

Striking photograph. Nicely placed title and name. Perfect.

How about some small press/epub covers? Anyone have any recommendations? I have to say, new epub Cobblestone Press has some gorgeous covers. Like this one:

(The Eternal Kiss, Cobblestone Press)

I love the deep blue tones, the overall layout. The little cross in the place of the "t" in the title. Everything. It's eyecatching. Kudos to the artist who designed that one!

Finally, I have to mention this one:

(Damnation, Ellora's Cave)

The colors, the cover model. It's a WOW. Truly. Unfortunately, the image is too small to appreciate. The author doesn't have a larger copy on her site yet.

Okay, so those are a few that caught my eye recently. Anyone else have some current favorites? Post them in the comments! I'd love to see them.
