Today is April 29...

And this day is important for two reasons.

First, my little girl is turning eight today. Eight! It's scary, how fast time is flying by.

Happy birthday, sweetie! I hope your special day is filled with love, and laughs, and friendship.

And second, it's important because DARK MASTER is officially released today. At last! You can buy your copy from online retailers (Amazon, Barnes and Noble) or at your favorite brick and mortar store today!

Completely broke, Regan Roslund is stuck selling bondage gear to a kinky clientele in order to pay her bills. She has no interest in her salacious merchandise until she feels a leather choker tight against her neck--and gets a glimpse of the muscular, model-gorgeous man who holds her captive. Suddenly, temptation ignites...

Newly crowned king of the undead, Shadow Sorenson knows he can protect himself by taking a wife. He hopes Regan, with her new-found curiosity, will be unable to resist obeying even his most deviant demand. But Shadow would prefer she surrender willingly. For thirty nights, he'll show Regan what it's like to lose control as he explores every inch of her naked flesh, leaving her hungry for release--and moaning in anticipation of an ecstasy she never knew existed...

Warning! This is a REALLY HOT book (Sexually Explicit)

And the winners are...

Before I announce the winners of my impromptu contest, I wanted to thank everyone for helping me brainstorm a title for my upcoming print release.

As it turns out, my publisher didn't select any of the titles brainstormed by the many kind and generous individuals who entered the contest. The chosen title is: Veiled Passions

Regardless, I wanted to show my appreciation for your help, and so I've randomly selected two people to win paperback copies of one of my books. The winners:

1. DanetteB
2. Gwen Hayes

Congratulations ladies! To claim your prizes, please email me at with your snail mail addresses. And note: if you don't hear back from me, assume your email didn't reach me.

Again, thanks to everyone who played along! I truly appreciate your help!

Win a Free Book!

For the past three days, I've been brainstorming titles for a new print 2-in-1 anthology that's scheduled to release this summer. I'm thrilled to have a new book out, but it's been a huge challenge coming up with just the right title for it.

I'm turning to you, my cyber friends for help.

What's in it for you? How about the person who offers the winning title receives a signed copy of Dark Master, my upcoming Aphrodisia release? And maybe, if I get more than, say...ten people participating, I'll have a second-chance raffle, for another paperback.

So please, post your best efforts, and encourage everyone you know to do the same. I need a hot title, something that will sell my book.

I guess I'd better set a deadline. Only entries received before Thursday, April 24, 11:59PM (Eastern Time) will qualify for the contests. It's not much time, sorry, but we're holding up the artwork and printing.

To make things simple, please just post your titles in the comments.

For inspiration, here are the blurbs of the two stories that will be included in the paperback, and THANK YOU!

Siren's Dance By Tawny Taylor
Book 2 in the Asteroid 6969 series.

In the outer reaches of the Crab Nebula, in a god-forsaken corner of the sprawling Milky Way galaxy, lies a mine-pocked asteroid orbiting a red sun...

Nik Nyuth, about to inherit his father's intergalactic shipping corporation, has come to the infamous Asteroid 6969 to taste the forbidden.

Shaya Maureau, a dancer who has paid dearly for early mistakes in life, wants to leave Asteroid 6969. But, she can't afford to buy her freedom and knows the lure of an "easy" escape is fraught with danger. Surrounded by evil, she strives to protect herself by trusting no one and hiding her only remaining possession—her face—behind a protective veil.

The moment they meet, Nik is spellbound by the mysterious dancer with the veil. But earning her trust will be nearly impossible. Fortunately for Shaya, Nik's powers of persuasion are as potent as…the siren's dance.

Tiger Gold By Samantha Winston
First in the Asteroid 6969 series

"…In the outer reaches of the Crab Nebula, in a godforsaken corner of the sprawling Milky Way galaxy, lies Asteroid 6969, depleted of its resources. Those who can afford to leave have gone. The town has become a den of iniquity—law and order have vanished. Travelers are advised caution when entering the area. The Federation has removed Asteroid 6969 from its jurisdiction. Anything that happens there is your own problem…"
- From The Revised Galactic Dictionary, section fifteen "Asteroids", appendix A

As soon as Captain Lance Rocket arrives on Asteroid 6969, he knows he's going to have problems. Not because of the bath in the bordello, but because of an auction. A young woman had been auctioned off to the highest bidder. The winner, some sadist pirate, is torturing her on the other side of the wall. What can a space captain do? He gets out of the tub and, stark naked except for his stun-gun, breaks the door down. And sees Heidi handcuffed to the bed. She's naked. She's got huge gray eyes, red-gold hair, and a body to damn a saint. Now he's really in trouble…

Tawny Does RT

The Romantic Times convention is over. I can barely talk. I slept through my trip home (even the looooong walk through Chicago's OHare airport). And I expect it'll take me at least a week to recover fully.

But it was Ooooohhhhh so worth it.

First, I'll let you know upfront that my blog isn't going to involve any hyped up commentary about perceived misbehavior by any individuals. If you want dirt, you'll have to look elsewhere.

So, you ask, what happened to Tawny Taylor in Pittsburgh?
My answer: A LOT of wonderful things!

I learned about some exciting upcoming projects (No, you will NOT get any details from me. At least, not yet).

I spent a second RT convention being tailed by a wonderful film crew, filming more footage for their documentary. I can't wait to see the end product once it's finished! A big thank you to Cindy and her crew for helping me get ready for the parties on both Friday and Saturday nights!

I talked to a several individuals from my publishers and learned they lurve me (always a good thing for an author to hear!).

I appeared in a live feed (in costume!) on the local news station WKDK with some authors I love and respect (I *heart* Jade Lee, Leslie Banks, Heather Graham, and Alexandra Sokoloff!!!).

I lunched with Erin McCarthy, Kathy Love, and a member of the Impalers.

I enjoyed many a laugh with authors Sasha White and Vivi Anna in the bar.

I danced off at least five pounds (yay!) with my Diva friends, as well as Lauren Dane, Alexandra Sokoloff, Kathy Love, Erin McCarthy, Anya Bast, Vivi Anna, Sasha White and...lots of other authors.

I talked to reviewers I've admired for years, booksellers I adore, press people who promise future interviews (I'm so excited!) and a couple of agents who may someday offer to represent my work.

I hugged Joy from Joyfully reviewed :)

I posed for pictures in my costumes, completely humbled by the enthusiastic compliments I received.

And last but not least, I soaked up truckloads of feedback from readers, as they waited for me to sign their copies of my books. I can't tell you how grateful I am for their sweet compliments, delivered with sparkling eyes and huge smiles. Food for the writer's soul, I tell you.

There's so much more, but those are the highlights. Already, I'm thinking about next year's convention.

Finally, as I come to the end of my RT post, I'd love to thank the people with RT who worked SO hard to make this year's convention special, the hotel staff, and the representatives of my publishers, particularly Ellora's Cave, for all the work they put into their spotlights, parties and author events.

Well, it's that time. Today I fly out to Pittsburgh for the 2008 Romantic Times Book Lovers Conference. I've been planning for this week for months, and wow, the weeks just flew by.

I'm nervous and excited! Can't wait to see all my writing friends, my publishers, fave reviewers and readers. And I'm looking forward to soaking up some great info at the workshops.

For those who are also attending, I hope to see you there!

The Tudors Silliness

Okay, I'm beginning to think I'm the only one who hasn't watched The Tudors on Showtime. But we don't have Showtime. I'm bummed, because I LOVE historical dramas. I have heard, however, that Showtime has the series launch on their website.I MUST go check it out.

Anyway, just for kicks, today I popped on the a website where you can create a Tudor royal portrait. My efforts are SO bad, but it was fun! Check it out, have a laugh or make your own. King David and
Empress Tawny

Now on to more serious matters--grocery shopping. UGH.

TGIF! Have a great weekend!

American Airlines Flight Cancellations...

I'm praying AA gets all those MD80's fixed ASAP! The first leg of my flight guessed it...American Airlines, to Chicago, on an MD80 *whimper*.

You cannot begin to imagine my wrath if this messes with my RT plans!

On a lighter note, I'm finished with my costumes! Yay! My office looks like a fashion show dressing room. What's weird, is how fast it came up. I swear, last week it was still months away.

Who else is heading to RT next week? Are you all packed up and ready to go? And what are you most looking forward to?

Terrific Review of Dark Master

I opened my email inbox this morning and learned Coffeetime Romance had reviewed DARK MASTER. And what a fabulous review it is!

The review isn't posted on their site yet, but here's a little taste of what Liadan had to say about my BDSM vampire novel:

"An excellent book. If you like vampires with a naughty twist, look for this in your local bookstore. Caution: This title contains steamy sex, BDSM, graphic language and red-hot romance."

HUGE thanks to Liadan and Coffeetime Romance!

Yay! Starting the weekend off with a bang!

I just received word that my newest paranormal romance novel, PRINCE OF FIRE, has found a home. Samhain Publishing will be releasing the novel in ebook format sometime in early 2009! And-- another bit of good news--this book will go into print sometime after that.

You have NO IDEA how excited I am about this story.
The world is cool.
The heroine is brave and smart.
And the hero...two words. Tortured. Alpha. (YUM!)

Here's a little blurby thing. It's not the best. It's more of a teaser, but it's all I've got for now :)

He is the Black Phoenix, blessed with the power of rejuvenation, charged with the duty to protect the innocent, and damned to an eternity of isolation.

She is the broken woman he must die to save.

Together, can they unleash the power of love...and find salvation?

Yes, sadly, that's all I can share for now. But as soon as I have more details about PRINCE OF FIRE, I'll post more. I promise!

Let's Get Silly

This morning, I eagerly clicked to the EC editors' blog, knowing they were blogging today about some were-critters that they'd like to see in stories. It's a total joke. Hilarious!

I thought I'd add a few to the list, just because I think it'll be fun cooking up some bizarre were-critters. So, I'm going to unleash the imagination (scary, I know) and see what I can cook up. Be prepared, I'm going for the weirdest, freakiest were-creatures I can think up. If you're squeamish, READ NO FURTHER.

Here are my four weird were-creatures, in descending order, based on how they push my personal ick-buttons :)

4. Were-porcupine. Once we get past that whole gross pee-thing, the male porcupine is ready, willing and able to service the insatiable female for as many hours as she wants, until he is thoroughly exhausted. Now that's impressive.

3. Were-dolphin. I was surprised to learn that the male dolphin's penis is not only retractable but also prehensile and swivels. He can use that appendage almost like a hand. OMG. Think of the possibilities!

2. Were-garter snake. First, the males have not one but two penises. An extra is always a good thing :) And secondly, they're known for having freaky group sex. Hundreds of male snakes will gather around a female. She gets her pick of the bunch.

1. Were-flatworms. Not only do they all possess both male and female sex organs (imagine the possibilities when you're writing a menage sex scene!) but they also battle with their penises. Seriously. Those bad boys are weapons.

Did you get through my list? LOL Have any others to add to my disturbing list?

BTW, the source for all my bizarre animal facts is THIS SITE.

Blog Cruisin'

Hey all!

I thought today I'd have some fun cruising a few romance industry blogs, to see what's up.

The first blog I visited was the Red Lines and Deadlines Blog. The EC editors are hosting a quick First Line contest. Sounds like fun! And the prize is a free download.

You don't have to write a whole story - just the most important sentence in the story. That's right, send us the best opening line you can create. Something you think would really grab an editor's or agent's attention, make them keep reading your submission. Now, don't go too over the top - it has to be something you could actually build a story on. It could be tense or traumatic or frightening or mysterious or humorous or romantic. But one sentence only, your envisioned first sentence.

Send your entry to by next Wednesday, April 2. On Friday we'll post the best ones we received and announce the winner (or maybe even winners). Prize is a free download of an EC/CP/TLC ebook.
On the Bookends Agency Blog agent Jessica Faust is talking about respond-by dates.

On Romancing the Blog, I found an interesting article addressing a common question unpublished writers ask-- should they establish a web presence BEFORE they sign their first contract?

All of the agents I surveyed said that if they find your query or partial interesting, then they’ll most likely visit any URL you’ve included in your query or cover letter.

Smart Bitches reports that Ellora's Cave is launching a new were-duck shapeshifter series. It's April 1st. I'm 99% sure it's a joke, even if what they say about mallard male bits is true. Then again, some EC authors might go there...

Ellora's Cave has decided to unveil their new line of were-duck romance. Heather Trix, the new editor of this line, explains why ducks are the ideal model for romance heroes, not the raptors that have captured the popular imagination all these decades.
Uhhh...did you know that some ducks have 18 inch you-know-whats?! I didn't believe it until I saw these pictures (ICK Alert! If you're squeamish, don't look).

So there you go, we've got a writing contest, an intriguing article about an agent's submission process, another informative article about the benefits of an unpublished writer established a web presence...and duck bits :)

Ahhh, the world of romantic fiction.
