An Early Christmas Gift

I thought I'd share one of my all-time favorite holiday recipes. This is for a chocolate cut out cooking that is absolutely delish. Add some pre-made cake frosting and candies/coconut/chocolate chips/mini marshmallows and you have cookies that are seriously to-die-for scrumptious.

3/4 c butter
3/4 c brown sugar
1 package (4 serving) chocolate instant pudding
1 egg
1 3/4c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon

Prepared cake frosting and decorations (small chocolate candies, shredded coconut, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, mini marshmallows, sprinkles, raisins, etc.

Preheat oven to 350

Beat butter, brown sugar, pudding and egg in a medium bowl with electric mixer on medium speed.

Combine dry ingredients. Gradually add to pudding mixture beating until well blended after each addition. Form into ball. Refrigerate for up to one hour if dough is soft.

Roll out dough on lightly floured surface to 1/4 thickness. Cut out shapes with cookie cutter and place on greased cookie sheet (or bake on parchment paper).

Bake 12-14 mins (4 inch cookies. Less for smaller--I bake 6mins for 3" cookies) or until slightly firm. Remove and cool on wire racks.

Decorate when cool.
